Galley Proofs are Done!

The past week has been so busy for me! First of all, I got my galley proofs for COVETED! It was so wonderful to see my book in the format that readers would see it when my book is released. I had to do a final read to make sure all my werewolves, goblins, and dark elves were lined up and behaving right. In the meantime, I'm wrapping up work on KEPT, the second book in the series.

Even though there are several months until my book comes out in 2012, a lot still needs to happen. (In particular, I need to mentally prepare for the madness to come.)

What's in the pipeline:
  • Promotion, promotion, promotion
  • Cover reveal
  • Advance reader copies
  • Book launch contests
  • As well as some other geekery yet to come!
I'm also excited since next weekend, Labor Day weekend, I'll be at Dragon*Con in Atlanta! In particular, I'll be participating in a panel for the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Literature track called "What's Coming from Del Rey/Spectra." Not only do I get to experience my first Dragon*Con, but I get to talk about my upcoming book and reveal the cover art to those in attendance. And no, the cover art hasn't been shown anywhere else so any attendees will get to see it first. :D

Due to my busy schedule, it's been quiet on my blog, but to celebrate completing my galleys I'd like to have a giveaway. A rather nice one! To one of my lucky commenters, I'm giving away all three of Kevin Hearne's books from the Iron Druid series so far: HOUNDED, HEXED, AND HAMMERED. The books are amazing and I'd love to further share their awesomeness with someone. Book 4 is coming out in April 2012! ;)

No need to leave a deep and meaningful post, but if you've attended DragonCon before I'd love any tips! :D So just leave a comment and I'll pick a winner next Thursday.

Coveted is available for pre-order!

I got a surprise this morning when I noticed COVETED is available for pre-order on Amazon.com. You can also add it to your to-read list on Goodreads. :)

I announced the winners today on Wicked Authors for two books. If you didn't win you can still leave a comment on my August 5th post at Romance at Random. On Friday the 12th I'll pick a winner for a $15 Amazon.com gift card.

Have a great Monday!

Well Hello There August!

This has been quite a busy week!

On Monday, I posted on the Wicked Authors blog about the wicked weather. Leave a comment about how you spend the day keeping out of the heat to either win Stephanie Rowe's TOUCH IF YOU DARE or Tamara Hogan's TASTE ME.

On Wednesday, I posted on the Magic and Mayhem Author's blog about my writing process. Or as how some might thing I lose my mind and jump into the Write or Die pool of mayhem. ;) When I write I prefer to sprint. In the post I talk about how I go from start to finish.

To add in more fun, on Saturday I'm presenting at WordCamp St. Louis at Maryville University. I'm so excited to learn more about Wordpress and talk about how I use Wordpress as an author.

August Heat and Fast Drafting

My writing has been going well, but this week I plan to turn it up a notch and do some fast drafting. If you happen to see me walk by mumbling, "Oh, dear! I shall be too late!" and I'm looking for a rabbit hole, just point me in the right direction 'cause that meant I wrote too much. And like Martha Stewart says, "That's a good thing!"

Yesterday it was 102 degrees--at dusk! I think this is a sign that I should be inside somewhere writing instead of pondering how I could do a weird experiment cooking cookies on the sidewalk. (Nope, I didn't do it, although I should've tried.) I remembered going to the store and seeing this poor guy trying to run in this heat! He didn't have any water and he was trying to run up a hill. At first I was like gee that looks painful--and after I passed him I was like--he is so hard core. I'm gonna be like that tomorrow. Hard core writing in the heat. Inside my house outside the heat hard core.
