Distractions

Right now my writing is pretty slow. Other than being sick a few times this month, the engine is slowly revving up. I'm still waiting on revisions from my agent. Until then I'm plowing away with my current WIP, another paranormal chick lit book. I had a dark paranormal that I was working on, but I pushed that to the side to concentrate on the area that I will submit soon with.

I'm also distracted by my first book when is begging to be edited. I'm currently at the half way point and the rest of the words used to frighten me. That was a few months ago. By this point I am so ready for the darn thing to be rewritten.

Focus is not high right now. I could use a shot or two of the stuff. If you have some be sure to pass it along.

Excerpt Monday

Excerpt Monday Logo

Once a month, a bunch of authors get together and post excerpts from published books, contracted work or works in progress, and link to each other. You don’t have to be published to participate–just an writer with an excerpt you’d like to share. For more info on how to participate, head over to the Excerpt Monday site! or click on the banner above.

This is a one of my works in progress that is an unedited story that I am slowing hashing out. It is a Fantasy/Science Fiction Romance. My next paranormal is not ready yet. Perhaps next month. Thanks for reading!

Collared

Chapter 1

Soft fur tickled her nose. The warmth of the material was smooth and silky against her legs. Elle wanted to snuggle deeper into the fur blankets. Fur blankets? Where was she?

She squeezed her eyes shut and counted to ten as the memories of the previous night flashed before her eyes. Strange figures grabbed her in the night as she walked home from the bus stop. The kidnapping wasn’t a dream!

I have to get out of here. Elle sat up and noticed she wore a flame-red robe which covered her to her upper thighs. The material scraped against her skin as she shifted. A few feet away, an ivory-colored partition partially concealed a brightly lit room with a silver-colored walls. The noise of metal scraping against the floor startled her.

In a panic, she attempted to stand, but something around her neck yanked her backwards. A dark chain snagged against the frayed ends of the blankets. A chain that went to a collar around her neck. Her trembling hands reached under her chin and traced smooth stones embedded along the outer part of a metal collar.

Oh, my God. Oh, my God.

A dark blue chain trailed from the collar to disappear within the folds of the blankets. Her eyes followed the links toward the partition. She gripped the collar tightly and tried to pry it off.

The slack in the chain suddenly tightened. With wide eyes, she watched as more disappeared around the corner.

“No… No…”

She covered her mouth and scooted backwards toward the closest wall. The chill from the wall crept down her back. Her breath caught in her throat as she scrambled to remove the chain. From behind the partition, a deep growl accompanied the scrape of the chain against the metal floor. The tugs increased and with a final jerk forward, her body was propelled toward uncertain doom.
